Smart Ideas for Cheating on Assignments

Are you feeling too lazy to do your homework yourself? It might just be easier not to do it at all and copy from friends. In a recent study, approximately 42% of Harvard freshman students admitted to cheating on assignments. Instead of copying your friend’s work in verbatim, it is better to get smarter about your cheating and find easier ways to finish your math homework, and even cut corners in making your assignments unique.

Method 1: Cheating on a Math or Short-Answer Assignment

• Copy a friend

The easiest way to cheat is to copy from someone who knows how the work is done. No matter the assignment, getting the right person with the right answers will help you greatly. 

To do this, you have to first make friends with the smartest kids in the class. You should also offer to help with the homework sometimes, don’t be a total parasite.

The worst time to copy homework is right before class, as this does not give you enough time to ensure you got the right thing. 

You should also never brag about copying someone’s work,  as this would make you come off as irresponsible.

• Work in a group

Tackling homework together in a big group ensures that the work is done faster and more accurately, with everybody contributing. Your study group can be done safely in someone’s home or on the bus ride home, but never in class.

For bulky homework, split the work between group members, and you discuss the right answers together.

Work only in small groups, and you all should paraphrase the answers in a way that does not raise suspicions.

• Don’t get all the answers right

If you’re not a grade-A student, suddenly getting all the answers right might raise your teacher’s suspicion and cause them to look more closely at your work. If you’re intent on cheating, get some answers wrong intentionally, but still, enough to still get you a good grade.

• Be familiar with the consequences of getting caught

If you’re caught cheating, you, along with the friend, will both likely fail the homework, fail the class, and might even get stronger punishments. Think about implicating your friend who put in all the work to do it correctly. Is it worth it? Is it not just better to do it all on your own and avoid trouble.

• Get tutored help

Method 2: Read Fast

• Read the first and last paragraph

If you have to read a long test, such as a novel or textbook before class, you need to get through it fast, and there is not enough time. It might also help skip everything, but the vocabulary when reading a textbook, as you can read it very fast this way and still understand a few points.

• Skip to the summary

Instead of reading the whole novel, skip to the end, and read the summary. This will usually explain what the chapter entails, and you’ll also get some sample questions for the chapter. This is just smart reading, not cheating.

• Read with a friend

Get together with some friends, break the book into chapters, and each one of you read the chapter and summarizes it to the group. It is necessary to make important notes of each chapter so everyone can be familiar with it.

Method 3: Cheating On an Essay Assignment

• Make friends with older students

Find an old student that still has copies of the same essay at hand. Because many teachers reassign the same essay every year, it is easy to get a copy from an old student and submit it as yours. However, this is a quick way to get caught if your teacher keeps digital copies of the essays online.

• Translate your copy into unique words

When you get an old essay, the least you could do is change the words, and make them your own, don’t be lazy!

Type out the sentences, and change the words as you go, but ensure that the topic is still up-to-date.

Never copy, and paste without reviewing the essay, ensure there is zero plagiarism, and free from grammatical errors.

• Follow instructions

Getting your assignments from multiple sources might seem like a great idea, but if you don’t provide the required information and possible solution to the problem presented, you still fail the homework, and by extension, the class.

• Don’t get caught plagiarizing!

Plagiarism is an offense in most schools, one which carries very harsh punishments. To avoid this, it is mostly better to write the whole essay yourself with your limited vocabulary.
